We have learned that police have arrested Javier Caldera on suspicion of DUI after a chain-reaction crash. The incident happened on Interstate 15 in the early morning hours of June 4. The California Highway Patrol says that five total vehicles were involved.
The CHP says that a Chevy Silverado was speeding on the freeway and rammed into the back of a sedan without applying the brakes, as witnessed on surveillance video. The truck then slammed into three other vehicles before coming to a stop. One person was killed, and two others suffered from serious injuries.
CHP says they believe Caldera was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
