We are learning of a crash that happened early on the morning of March 16 that sent two people to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. The incident took place on I-805 at around 3 a.m. when a sedan that was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes crashed into an SUV. When the vehicles collided, a fire ignited. Shortly after the initial impact, a third vehicle also crashed into the other two.
The two people in the initial crash suffered severe injuries and the driver of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries. At this time, it is not known why the driver was traveling the wrong way and an investigation is ongoing. At the Eugene Bruno & Associates, we know that the roadways can be unpredictable and injuries often occur due to other people’s negligence. We know that the last thing anyone expects when they are riding down the road is that a vehicle will come at them in the wrong direction. No matter how safely you operate, you cannot predict the actions of other drivers around you.
Of particular concern are drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol. For the latest reporting year, 29% of all traffic crash fatalities were the result of alcohol-impaired crashes. We also know that distracted driving continues to be a problem despite laws that have been passed to prevent such behavior. Nearly half of all drivers surveyed by the California Office of Traffic Safety say that they have made a driving mistake while talking on a cell phone.
When a person is injured in a vehicle crash, their main concern is getting medical care. However, that is only the beginning of a long process of obtaining compensation from insurance companies. Beyond the medical expenses, which are extremely costly, there are also other hidden accident costs that many people do not consider when finalizing settlements. This can include income lost if an accident victim cannot work, home and vehicle accommodations, long-term care if needed, as well as pain and suffering damages.
There were over 278,000 injuries in vehicle crashes for the latest full reporting year in California. You do not want to become just another statistic of those not fairly compensated after a crash.
If you or a loved one have been in a car crash that was caused by another person’s negligence, please seek legal assistance. You may be eligible for more compensation than the insurance companies will be willing to pay. At the Eugene Bruno & Associates, our qualified and experienced team will dedicate themselves to your case so you can get the compensation you need. This can include:
