We learned that a 54-year-old motorcyclist lost his life on February 8 when a vehicle slammed into him in San Diego. Police say that the motorcyclist was heading north on Broadway when he entered the F Street intersection on a green light. At the same time, a vehicle that was heading the opposite direction on Broadway made a left turn on a circle green. That was when he collided with the motorcyclist.
EMS found the motorcyclist in the roadway and tried to save him. Unfortunately, he died on the scene from his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle sustained only minor injuries. Police say they do not think alcohol or drugs played a part in the crash, though the incident is still under investigation.

If you are a motorcycle owner and rider, we know that you do what you can to stay safe. Motorcyclists are much more vulnerable than regular passenger vehicle occupants. When they are struck, there is a much higher chance for major injuries. It is not uncommon to see the following injuries as a result of a motorcycle crash:
The impact of these injuries is two-fold. First, medical treatment and recovery can be agonizing. Often, a motorcycle crash victim must undergo a long period of rehabilitation in order to make a full recovery.
Second, the cost of care for these incidents can become tremendous. The injuries listed above frequently see price tags in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, something that most people cannot afford without a major insurance settlement.
Why should you and your family be put into financial jeopardy if someone else caused your injuries?
For the latest reporting year, there were more than 14,000 motorcycle accident injuries in California. Most of these resulted in some kind of injury.
Motorcyclists are vulnerable to the same kinds of roadway negligence as everyone else, but the result is often much worse. Drivers who speed or operate recklessly around cyclists are a major concern, as are those who are impaired or distracted.
