The roadway can be a very dangerous place. People are driving as safe as they can, but you can’t control what everyone is doing all the time. This is why there are certain rules on the road that prohibit certain behaviors or ban certain behaviors. For example, cars are not allowed to go under the speed limit or over the speed limit. A car going to slow on a road with a higher speed limit can be just as dangerous as a car that is going too fast. Another example is in San Diego you are not allowed to use your cell phone. The car is a hand free zone. This means that you cannot distract yourself with your phone while you are stuck in traffic or following the flow of traffic. You are also not allowed to tailgate. Tailgating is when a car follows really close behind you. This behavior can be categorized as aggressive driving. You don’t want someone to tailgate you because if you have to abruptly stop then the car behind does not have the room to stop either.
All these rules and regulations for driving are to protect everyone on the road. However, despite all these rules, people still manage to mess up and cause accidents. Sometimes these accidents leave more than just battle wounds. Some accidents end in fatalities.
A series of cars were stopped at an intersection. They were all waiting their turn to go. One car, in particular, was in the back of the pack. This car was occupied by two women, a 48-year-old and 25-year-old. Both the women had children and both were known within their communities. These women were following the rules when a pickup truck slammed into the back of the car while it was at a standstill. The pickup truck hit the back of the small car so hard that it hit the bumper of the next car which in turn hit the bumper of another car. This pickup truck caused three other vehicles to be hit. Unfortunately, the two women did not survive. There is no report as to why the man did not slow down. At first, there was a suspicion of intoxication, but it was ruled out.
