We know that the last thing Christopher Williams was thinking when he hit the road on January 1 was that he would never make it home again. When Mr. Williams, an EMT and father of two young boys, was traveling home that night, he was struck by a driver going the wrong way.
The driver who struck Williams is 25-year-old Marine Adam Barooshian. Police say they believe Barooshian was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He pleaded not guilty to murder charges after the incident but was denied bail. Police say that Barooshian allegedly drove his Lexus eastbound in the westbound lanes of SR-76.
Williams was the husband of a public safety dispatcher with the Oceanside Police Department.

Wrongful death occurs when someone else’s negligence leads to an incident that claims another person’s life. This can be the negligence of an individual or a company. Today, we will go over some of the common ways in which these cases arise. Above, we see that the driver who took Mr. Williams’ life was likely intoxicated, which is a common problem on California roadways.
Impaired Drivers – Impaired drivers were responsible for 27% of all traffic-related deaths during the state’s latest reporting year. When someone makes the choice to use drugs or drink alcohol and get behind the wheel, they must be held accountable for their actions.
Pedestrians and Bicyclists – These two groups are particularly vulnerable when they are on the roadway as they have no protection from the force of a vehicle slamming into them. There were more nearly 150 bicyclist fatalities and more than 850 pedestrian fatalities for the state’s latest reporting year.
Faulty Products – Not many people think about the items they use or consume causing them or their family harm. Unfortunately, we hear stories all the time about contaminated foods, medications with the wrong dosage labels, or vehicles that spontaneously catch fire.
Medical Malpractice – Medical mistakes kill at least 250,000 people a year. They are the third leading cause of death, but estimates say that millions of others survive these mistakes and have to live with the consequences.
Premises Incidents – Slip and fall accidents are the leading cause of premises injuries, but there are many ways in which people get hurt or killed on another person’s property. It is up to business owners, private property owners, as well as government agencies to ensure their properties are safe.
